About the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists' Association (NZSTA)
We are the largest professional community of speech-language therapists in Aotearoa New Zealand, with more than 1150 members and student subscribers.
As a self-regulated profession, the NZSTA oversees the registration of over 1,000 registered speech-language therapists.
Our members are from a broad range of speech-language therapy practice areas that work across the lifespan.
We are committed to supporting all New Zealanders with life essentials – effective communication and safe swallowing. With these life essentials comes well-being.
We are committed to excellence in speech-language and swallowing care, enabling people with communication and swallowing difficulties to participate in their communities.
We do this by setting ethical and professional standards of practice for our members, advocating on communication and swallowing health care matters, and providing accountability, professional development, practice resources and guidelines.
We have seven NZSTA regions that meet regularly and 17 special interest groups representing specialist speech and language therapy areas.
