The Forbrain is an adjunct tool for speech therapists in the sessions. The prize has two jacks - one to an external mic for the speech therapist, and another which can be used if connecting to another device like a laptop or phone.
The technology that the Forbrain offers uses bone density rather than the air canal. This means that sound goes directly to the auditory nerve. This opens up possibilities where the air canal may have been damaged through ear infections and other causes. The headset sits on the bone in front of the ear (roughly where the jaw bones meet) with the mic for the child/client. The external connection comes from the device for the therapist.
The Soundsory is used for Auditory Processing Disorder, Autism and other conditions. It is more of a long game tool which opens up the capacity to hear sound, where some frequencies and pitches haven't been heard.
A friend's Down Syndrome daughter (24) wore the Soundsory for several months and then my friend asked her how the Soundsory turned on. It resulted in the clearest communication she had had with her in 15 years. The slow change to open up hearing.
