This 2 x 3.5-hr online workshop “Treatment of Severe Speech Disorders in Children” is aimed at speech pathologists who have experience working with children with speech disorders, but may have less experience and/or confidence working with severe disorders. This event is a follow-up from Tricia’s training on “Differential Diagnosis of Severe Speech Disorders in Children”. Attendance at this event or a similar one focused on differential diagnosis of children’s speech is recommended but not a pre-requisite of registering for this course.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will:
- Understand recent research developments in treatment of severe speech disorders (phonology, Childhood Apraxia of Speech and dysarthria)
- Know about free resources which will help them implement evidence-based practice in CAS and other speech disorders
- Consider treatment factors such as treatment dosage and service delivery models when delivering evidence-based interventions to children with severe speech disorders
- Discuss problem solving in treatment of children with dual diagnoses
