This series of two 3.5hr hour tele-training modules is intended for speech-language therapists working with children whose home language is not English and/or those who have a special interest in providing equitable assessment and treatment for children who speak two or more languages, and experience speech and language difficulties affecting both/all of their languages.

Following this event participants will:

 

• Differentiate typical bilingual language acquisition from language learning difficulties

• Select the appropriate language or language(s) to assess and deliver support to bilingual children

• Work effectively with interpreters to ensure SLT services are delivered in an equitable and effective manner

• Engage and involve bilingual parents and those who have limited English language skills to support their child’s communication
