INTRODUCTION TO TE TIRITI-BASED PRACTICE

All Day

Christchurch

NZ - CPD

Co-facilitated by Heather Came and Tracy Karanui-Golf

Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Māori text) is the founding document of New Zealand. It reaffirmed tino rangatiratanga previously outlined in He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga Nū Tīreni and established the terms and conditions of British settlement.

This co-facilitated workshop covers the lead-up to He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti, engages with Te Tiriti breaches and the importance of equity. Learners experience whanaungatanga, time travel, a pop quiz and do a deep dive into questions (and answers) about Tiriti justice. Poetry, song and whakataukī will be weaved through the workshop. The session will conclude with a panel to address any outstanding questions.

You will leave with a living Te Tiriti responsiveness plan aligned to the elements of the Māori text to guide your next steps in your Te Tiriti journey.

Alumni of this course will be able to:

· Define the differences between Te Tiriti, the Treaty and the treaty principles.

· Explain key concepts of Tiriti-based practice/leadership.

· Develop a living Te Tiriti responsiveness plan.

Suitable for those new to engaging with Te Tiriti, this session includes pre-reading and a useful contemporary reading list to extend learning.

10 tickets at the Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin workshops are being reserved for NZSTA members. If these are all sold out and you wish to be added to the waitlist, please email admin@audiology.org.nz, and we can advise if a space becomes available.
