Permanent part time Speech Language Therapist

Located in Porirua with satellite classes at host schools across Porirua, Kāpiti Coast and Horowhenua, Mahinawa is a school for students aged 5-21 years with intellectual, physical, emotional, mental health and behavioural disabilities. All students have ORS funding in place.
We are seeking a fully qualified Speech Language Therapist to work within our therapy team. Ideally you have skills or a strong interest in dysphagia, and ARFID and could lead programming and implementation on this across the school. Generalist AAC skills are also an advantage. You will work in alignment with Specialist Service Standards and He Pikorua, support teachers to implement our adapted curriculum and work to fulfil IEP aspirations plus provide training to staff and families from time to time.
You will be joining a full therapy team including five other SLTs, working alongside other therapies including: Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Music Therapy and Behaviour Specialists. You will have close liaison with our Wellbeing team. Mahinawa therapists work in classes with ongoing relationships with students, whānau, teachers and teacher aides to develop and deliver programmes that work toward curriculum access, key competency success and autonomous communication of Mahinawa students.
You must:
- Have a clean driver’s licence and a vehicle.
- Be eligible for membership to the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists’ Association
- Be a NZ citizen or resident or have a current Work Visa
- Have a positive forward thinking attitude.
