CYMHS is in a period of significant growth that is increasing access to mental health care for Tasmanians.  The Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Management Psychologist is a new role with scope to work across a variety of existing CYMHS programs delivering high-quality mental health assessments, interventions and outcomes for consumers and their communities.  The role is part of a small unit based within the CYMHS Extended Programs, which include Out-of-Home Care Mental Health, Youth Forensic Mental Health and Youth Mental Health.

The Role:

The Allied Health Professional - Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Management (Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist) works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment undertaking a variety of evidence-based assessments across multiple CYMHS program areas. The role works closely with stakeholders, including consumers and their care teams, to understand presenting issues and develop and deliver appropriate treatment options. The role may also work with other mental health professionals, service providers, or other partners on research projects and quality improvement initiatives.

You will need:

  • Two years post registration supervised experience in a clinical area directly applicable to Child and Youth Mental Health Services, with demonstrated experience and skill in providing assessment and case management to children and adolescents with significant mental health challenges.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and skill in either contemporary Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology practice with children and adolescents, including evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions.
  • High level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills including demonstrated experience in liaising effectively with other services and agencies in the context of providing either specialised Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology mental health assessment, advice and training.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Please note: This role will be used to fill either in North or Northwest Tasmania. 

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Speech Pathology Australia and eligibility for membership of the Speech Pathology Assocation (SPA)
  • Full member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in an areas relevant to the roles
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role
  • Certified practicing member of SPA
  • Current Driver’s Licence
