Part time – Full time, Starting Term Four 2025 or Term One 2026. Permanent
This is a great opportunity to join the team at Kimi Ora School. We are a specialist school for students aged 5-21 who have very high complex, medical, intellectual and physical needs. Our base school is situated in Naenae and we have five satellites within the Naenae, Taita, Woburn, Miramar and Evans Bay area.
We seek an enthusiastic, innovative Speech Language Therapist to join our team of specialists. This is an exciting opportunity to be an active part of a school community, working alongside other staff in a transdisciplinary manner to enhance the learning of our students.
Desired skills will include:
- Assessment, planning and implementation of programmes for students with diverse and complex communication needs.
- Working with pre-intentional communication, high and low tech alternative and augmentative communication systems,
- Development of language and literacy, and spoken language.
- Assessment and management of dysphagia.
Mōu | About you
Essential:
- Diploma or Degree in Speech Language Therapy with a current NZ Practising Certificate.
- Current EMS accreditation for communication is preferred or expected to be in place once employed.
- Full New Zealand driver’s license.
- Full working rights in New Zealand, with no restrictions.
Desired attributes:
- Knowledgeable and comfortable working across diverse cultures.
- Experience with the disability sector/school environment is an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain high-trust relationships with all stakeholders.
- Solutions focused approach.
Role information:
- The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the NZEI Primary Teachers Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered SLT’s will range from $76719 to $113639 depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience. Individuals actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
- Based at Kimi Ora sites in Lower Hutt region

- 52-week position; with work during the school holidays for planning and preparation
