The number of speech-language therapists working in private practice has increased hugely in the last 5-10 years. Currently, there are no national standards and training opportunities to support new private practitioners, or, to support those employing speech-language therapists in private practice. The New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association (NZSTA) invites all speech-language therapists working in private practice to participate in a Private Practice Forum. The Forum will be facilitated by Dr Anna Miles – NZSTA Professional Standards Portfolio and Bridget McArthur – NZSTA Private Practice Rep.The Forum aims to gather opinions on key risks and strengths of Private Practice in New Zealand. This may include discussions re: supervision, CPD, managing finance, insurance, advertising,
registration. The Forum members will develop a plan for the future including priorities for document development.
