The New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists’ Association (NZSTA) has a responsibility, alongside employers, to support safety to the public. From 1st July 2019 all new NZSTA registered members are police checked at the point they first apply for membership.
From the 1st of July onwards all registered members who have joined NZSTA sign an annual declaration that they have not:
- Been convicted of a criminal offence or an offence related to the practice of speech language therapy?
- Been the subject of a finding of professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity by your employer or any other body?
- Been disciplined or sanctioned, or are there any disciplinary proceedings pending against you before any professional association, professional licensing authority or board, or other professional regulatory body?
