Unique Specialist position in a Paediatric Disability Service

  (40 hrs pw) 

We are seeking applications from a suitably qualified/experienced Paediatric Speech-Language Therapist to join the MidCentral District Health Board’s Child Development Service.  This position is up to 40 hours a week and would suit an experienced practitioner (3-4 years post-graduation).

The successful applicant will join an established, experienced multi-disciplinary therapy based service providing a range of assessment, treatment and consultation services for babies, children, adolescents (and their whanau) who have an identified disability or are at risk of developing a disability.

Key tasks for this position will be assessing and managing paediatric feeding and dysphagia in both inpatient and community settings.  There will also be opportunity to maintain or develop skills in assessing communication for diagnostic process for children who present with autism spectrum disorder challenges. In addition there may be scope to work with babies, children, their families and staff to assess and develop strategies to manage early communication diagnosis and intervention.
