The Hearing House is a not-for-profit organisation that helps transform the lives of children and adults with hearing loss who have cochlear implants and/or hearing aids. This position is in the Under 5 Programme and focusing on guiding and coaching parents to teach their children to listen and speak.
Due to a resignation a permanent full time opportunity has become available for a Speech Language Therapist and/or Resource Teacher of the Deaf, knowledge and interest in the area of deaf children is preferable.
Reporting to the Habilitation Manager this permanent role will have a caseload and receive the relevant training and support in areas of Listening and Spoken Language. Responsibilities include planning and setting programmes, completing and writing assessments, attending internal and external meetings, completing home visits and maintaining clinical records. This role includes opportunity to collaborate with an experienced and dynamic team on novel clinical and research projects.
This role is ideal for a qualified and experienced Speech Language Therapist and/or Resource Teacher of the Deaf. Proven experience working with infants and toddlers in a family-centred programme is an advantage and some knowledge of Auditory Verbal therapy would be preferred however is not essential. There is however an expectation that the person in this role be committed to becoming an LSLS Cert. AVT.
The successful candidate must have the capacity to work autonomously and contribute within a working environment of passionate team players committed to delivering quality outcomes and services to the deaf and hearing-impaired community. The ability to be resourceful and communicate effectively, both from a written and verbal perspective, is paramount.
